Though the lighter mass of synthetic stucco as compared to the three-layer traditional stucco makes it more susceptible to hard blow, it is pretty cost effective and easy to install. The most popular synthetic stucco at present is the EIFS or, Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems. It is a three layered single stucco structure consisting of a polystyrene insulation board, a base coat attached to a fiberglass mesh and a colored finish coat. EIFS has all the advantages of synthetic stucco and in addition, it has excellent insulation property. Stucco constructions contain cement in them which has a high pH value and hence the coloring agents are made up of inorganic pigments which can adjust with the high pH of the cement. The colorants can be either natural or man-made. Natural colorants include Ochers, natural earths etc which are unaffected by UV rays and appear pleasant to our eyes, but these have lesser variety of shades and less tinting strength when compared to the man-made colors. Man-made colors come in variety of shades and a wide range of colors like blues, greens, reds, pinks and various types of earthy tints too. They are also resistant to UV rays as they include inorganic pigments.
